I've visited the place 31st December 2020. There are two parts of this cemetery. One is well maintained and the outher one is not maintained at all. I don't know why, but they should maintain the area. Dead are lying there doesn't mean that the place does not require maintenance. Though the other part as you can see in other reviews looks really great. But it doesn't feel safe alone as there are no people around. I've given four stars for the maintained cemetery.

In late 17th Century, the city of Chinsurah saw a Dutch Colonization. Before Chinsurah's command got transfered to the British in 1825, the Dutch built many buildings in the city. As time passes, only a few structures are still standing. One of them is this old Dutch Cemetery. Many important Dutch personalities of that era are buried here. Recently, this place is getting a make over so public trespassing is strictly prohibited. Still you can click pictures from outside, that too is an amazing experience.

This cemetery is situated at Hooghly-Chinsura municipality which is very near to Hooghly Ghat rail station. When Hooghly was controlled by Olondaz (Dutch), then this cemetery was used by their community. This place was last resting place for elit classes like top level officials, important persons of the society, priests and their family members. The whole place is about 2 bigha. Size of monument upon grave denotes the societal importance of the deceased. Each and every grave is reformed by Archeological Survey of India. If you really interested to know about dutch colonial past history of Hooghly, this will be a best place to explore. If you simply be a visitor, then roam into this cemetary for half an hour, you may be interested about our past history. Only thing is that, modern buildings around this cemetary have destroyed the ghostly ambience. If this review help you, please click like button, so that I feel encouraged to write more review.

A fantastic old cemetery. It's established in 18th century. First Dutchman grave was build in the year 1740!! And the last one in around 1920. This cemetery is now undertaken by Archeological survey of India. They maintained it quite well. Watching the Dutch architecture with mixing of Indian culture is a great feeling.

Dutch(People of Netherlands) came to India during 16th to 17th century and established their colonies in Chinsurah, a very big factory named as VOC was also set by the dutch in Chinsurah. Latet the dutch along with mir zafar fought a war against the Britain, and they had to eventually leave chinsurah and later they left India. Yes, the war was fought in chinsurah known as the battle of chinsurah. This place has various stupas ranging from 1750's to 1850's, very soothing to see, and experience the journey of life that leads to death from this mortal world. Do visit, this place, and also checkout Bandel church(situated nearby) and Imambara.
