This is the birth place of Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay a great Bengali Novelist and the author of Vande Mataram the stirring song of the independence movement of India. The house has been saved from total ruin and houses a library and a research centre. It is accessible from Naihati station by Toto. Very peaceful and the building is now well maintained with a garden. Worth seeing.

It is very special experience to visit Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay 's residence and birth place. It is like a guru asram where 'Bande Mataram' took birth. Many monk of the freedom movement and a high profile intellectuals met there for different interactions. It a museum now maintained by higher education dept. Govt of West Bengal. In 1997 the then higher education minister Prof. Satyasadhan Chakraboty and the founder rector Prof. Satyajit Choudhari developed the dilapidated house of Bankim.

House of rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadyay ,one of the famous writers of Bengal during British era.this place is situated near naihati railway station. From there it is only 5 minutes walk. There is a library behind it which remains closed on Sunday. You first have to see the museum and then can go to the main house as the tickets are given in the museum. The bedroom and it's interiors are majestic and well preserved. All over a good place to spend an afternoon.
