The worshiping of Goddess Durga during Sept-Oct is the largest Hindu festival takes place every year. It gives us an opportunity to get united with everyone every year after getting off from our day-to- day life. The basic premises of Durga Puja celebration is the victory of Good over Evil. In accordance with the slokas which praises Durga as the symbol of all Divine forces, it reminisce Durga as omnipresent embodiment of power, peace, intelligence, wealth and morality. It is us and Alaknanda Puja Samiti who are to upkeep these sacred experiences as coming down from time immemorial.

In its years of celebration of Durga Puja by Alaknanda Puja Samiti, a little going back in time, will familiar us with the chronology of this significant and symbolic event those will be of interest to everybody. Durga Puja became one of the largest celebrated festivals in India after the Independence and gradually spread to the other parts of the world also.

Durga Puja celebration has descended from the medieval period through the present day that we worship the goddess in its present and modernized fashion is intermingled with cultural tradition to bring us together at least once in a year. From the princely arrangements of Durga worshipping, it has come down to be celebrated as Baroari Puja – with the participation of all and everybody in the community.

An elaborate structured Pandal is created to invoke the Durga Goddess where person from all walks of life throng the Pandals and offer their prayer. The musical evening, dancing, displaying of Art and Culture plays an important role in connecting across the communities throughout the society not only in India but also outside. Wearing new dresses by all ages gives a feeling of fresh ambience that pervades perfect cohabitation of religious fervor along with the entertainment – is an integral part of the festival.

During these four days of worshipping we witness the chanting of Mantras, accompanied by the rhythmic beatings of the Drum, bellowing of the smoke coming out from the perfumed sticks, decorating and offering with flowers and Pushpanjali – all contributes to the grandeur to the religious arrangements those we wait for.Every day worshipping is followed by meticulous arrangement of Community Bhog prepared and distributed forall in the community.
