Alang in Bhavnagar district counted among the world's foremost ship breaking yards. Every year, many large ships come here for braking. These activities have been in operation since the ship breaking business started in Alang in 1983 with the wreck of the M V Kota Tejong. Alang is considered the safest yard for shipwrecks in Asia. More than 180 plots were laid here at a distance of 11 km and infrastructural facilities set up to develop ship breaking industry.
The tidal sea, the slope from shore to sea, and the ability to keep a ship afloat making all these things were naturally acquired by Alang and the ship breaking industry developed at this place.

ભાવનગર જિલ્લામાં આવેલ અલંગની ગણના વિશ્વના અગ્ર હરોળના શિપ બ્રેકીંગ યાર્ડમાં થાય છે. દર વર્ષે અહીં અનેક મોટા જહાજો બ્રેકીંગ માટે આવે છે. વર્ષ 1983માં એમ.વી.કોટા ટેજોન્ગ જહાજને ભાંગવા સાથે અલંગમાં શિપ બ્રેકીંગ વ્યવસાયનો પ્રારંભ થયો ત્યારથી લઈને વર્તમાન સમય સુધી આ પ્રવૃત્તિઓ કાર્યરત છે. એશિયા ખંડમાં જહાજ ભાંગવાના સૌથી સુરક્ષિત યાર્ડ તરીકે અલંગની ગણના થાય છે. અહીં 11 કિમિ ના અંતરે 180 થી વધારે પ્લોટ પાડીને જહાજ ભાંગવાના ઉદ્યોગના વિકાસ અર્થે માળખાકીય સવલતો ઉભી કરાઈ છે. ભારતીવાળો દરિયો, કિનારાથી સમુદ્ર તરફ ઢોળાવ અને કિનારાનું તાલ જહાજને સ્થિર રાખી શકવાની ક્ષમતા આ બધી બાબતો અલંગને કુદરતી રીતે જ પ્રાપ્ત હોઈ જહાજ ભાંગવાનો ઉદ્યોગ આ સ્થળે વિકાસ પામ્યો.

There are many warehouse which sells various types of projects, goods, utensils, mattresses, industrial parts, cables, crains, chains and many more. These products are best quality products in cheaper price. There are many ship breaking company and they buy outdated ship in ship auction. Then they breaks by laser cutter and other machines. We can visit there by wearing safety belt. You can buy any useful products from warehouse and it expands in big area. There are some kathiyawadi dhaba for lunch and dinner.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Alang is world's largest graveyard of ships. Nearly half of all ships salvaged around the world are recycled here. The sight of super tankers, container ships and luxury cruise liners once sailing on seven seas with pride, lined up to the shore here for their last rituals makes one a philosopher! The road to the recycling yard from state highway is lined with shops selling every imaginable item that has been ripped from the ships. It was an experience of visiting a different world!
