★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best libraries in Kolkata. People have complained about the staff being rude but OMG they are like the friendliest people I have ever met! Awesome collection of books and novels. Membership details are given on their website. Only problem is you cant carry your laptop or tab into the library or into the consulate building (gee thanks Trump! trust issues much?) this is of course a new rule. Their access to e-resources is now available only via the library computers, again thanks Trump! Grr! otherwise a nice place to sit and read! Check out the graphic novels they have as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If Calcutta is all about 'being there' then the American Center Library is about 'being here'. Must take you back a good two decades ('91-'92) on my maiden visit, I was swept off my feet and with good reason. The whole library as I remember was done in blue with dollops of other shades from the pallette. 'Twas not loud but soft and serene. A never-before experience, the ambience soothing every nerve that made me feel I am not in India but in America itself. Probably this is the very reason I romanticise it till today and keep going back. Come to soak in the atmosphere, for reading look elsewhere.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice collection of books. Library is well spacious and the best part is free WiFi for all the members. They also have computers with internet facility. So, if you don't have any WiFi devices, you can sit infront of any computer and enjoy the internet service. Moreover, you can also download your stuff and store them on your pen drive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First thing membership fees is affordable.Well equipped library with lots of resources. Free wi-fi is available here for the members. Anyone can browse any information from internet & can use the desktops.They organize movie screening almost twice in a month.But the bad thing is security checking, they treat everyone as possible terrorist with rude behavior. Except that,this is one of the best library in Kolkata as British Council Library.
