★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The proprietors tried to take 50,000 rupees from me by running my credit card and then not having any 'record' of the transaction because they forgot to load paper into the card reader. However, the 50,000 Rupees from the transaction were deducted from my bank account. My bank said the money made it into their account, but the Village Shop folks said no money appeared and could not understand what had happened. My bank says this is a nearly impossibly situation. Fortunately, I was in Delhi for some months and, working with my bank back home and having a complete record of e-mails, visits to the store and a false document the store owners created, forced their bank to refund my money (I think - or maybe my bank just made my debit go away). I don't trust this business, as nice as they may seem in the shop.
