★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The backlash that this film receives from some views is only a perspective remember...We as the audience are meant to see it from Ma's POV (duh her name is literally the title). Whether it's in the hurt she experiences, the plans she develops, the drive she forces - Ma/Octavia had me convinced of her world and purpose throughout and made vengeance look like nothing else mattered in life yet executing her attempts subtly and unsuspectedly ie: the ways of a psychopath (and I mean it in the proper sense of the term). There are moments where you might even feel pity for Ma and if a movie can elicit that feeling towards someone who ends up being callous in nature then it's got to be worth watching.
