★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went for hair smoothening to Aura Beauty Salon, Jain Society, Sion Mumbai on 13th December 2015. I had unmanageably frizzy hair and wanted expert suggestion and results. I contacted Ritu – one look at my hair and she said smoothening would take about 5 hours and would cost me 5,500 INR. I agreed.
Then my ordeal began. One lady Chitra applied the product onto my hair(I hope it is Lóreal as they claim)It had to stand for 15 – 20 minutes then a wash and then ironing...inexperienced people tugging and pulling continuously from both sides for 2 hours and I lost incredibly lot of hair. It was really disheartening to see the hair breaking and coming away from the roots, the hair iron was not of good quality, nor were they professionals – they just did the job unsatisfactorily! The ambience is horrible and spending that amount of time in the middle of people walking in to get eyebrows, or waxing and so on... I was beginning to feel more and more miserable. There was hair all over the parlour. When I pointed it out, they feel it’s not a big deal! I even wanted to stop midway but – how could I go home with hair like that half done?
Finally when it got over, Ritu did not recommend any after care. She brusquely told me to come for first hair wash after 3-4 days. After the wash, I was not entirely satisfied with the end result – there were areas that still stood rough. When I pointed out, I was told that this is due to the scalp burn on account of ironing. Do they think customers are fools? Can’t we make out the difference between an area done well and areas not done properly? But I realise that I’ve really been fooled. I wish I had gone to a better parlour with experienced professionals and I’d have had more hair on my head which now I’ve lost forever!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I feel sad writing this review as this salon is very close to my home. I went for threading and arms waxing, both very done below average. The girl who threaded was anything but trained. Felt extreme pulling pain and discomfort and the result was equally painful to look at. Waxing lady was sure to comment on my excellent hair growth! What the hell is up with that comment? Hair grows, good for your business. Get over it! The repeated use of wax strip with a big bulb of wax globe forming in the middle prohibits from pulling smaller hairs out. When I requested to use at least the edges to take care of smaller hairs, it fell on deaf ears.
2 stars for quick service, clean environment and reasonable prices!
