Review about Forex services at Axis Bank Civil Lines branch, Prayagraj (Allahabad) Went there a couple of weeks back to get a forex card for education abroad. As a non-account holder, they are only interested in listening to you if you open an account there. Here's my interaction (with the person dealing in forex and the manager) in its entirety: 1. At first, I was told that they won't issue a card without an account. 2. I talked to their customer service who then told me that they indeed issue forex cards to students without an account there. 3. Went to the branch again and told her that customer service says that you can issue a forex card without an account. She still kept on insisting that I open an account there. 4. After a while, she reluctantly gave me their forex account details, asked for several documents, and told me to transfer the required amount via NEFT/RTGS only (no other payment methods accepted). 5. Went to my bank and transferred the amount but I got a message that Axis Bank's forex account is closed so my money bounced back. 6. Went to their branch the next day and showed her that statement but she refused to believe the bank's statement and insisted that it was a fault on my bank's end. I tried again and even a transfer via another bank but still the same error (obviously). 7. My dad then came to talk to the manager and upon a lengthy talk, the manager searched on his computer in case it was an error in Axis Bank's forex account. Turns out, their forex account has been closed since June. 8. I then told her to give back my documents and vowed never to interact with anyone in that branch again. Neither the person dealing in forex nor the manager gave much effort in helping my case. I had initially decided to open my salary account in Axis Bank upon my return to India, but now I won't even recommend it to anyone. All in all, if you are a non-account holder, don't go to their branch. I will also raise this issue to their consumer complaint forum.
