Let me share my experience, My father (Age 70 yrs.) was diagnosed with Aortic Valve Stenosis of severe grade (very small opening of Aortic Valve). We have consulted with several cardiologist to seek their opinions, In all consultations we have been told to go for Aortic Valve Replacement, medications won’t help in sever grade and if left untreated then it will be life threatening, with severe grade aortic stenosis patient can survive till maximum 3 years. This is one of the tricky and complicated open heart surgery as patients heart functionality will be shifted to Heart-Lung machine, drain the complete Heart, replace the Valve and then shift the functionality back to heart. It was very tough call for us, now the next and very important question was where to perform this complex surgery?? Pune, Mumbai or in any other Metros. As I am from Amravati and working in Pune, we got the reference of Dr. Sudhir Dhande from few family friends, He is the cardiac surgeon in Amravati, Maharashtra. Initially I was very reluctant to perform this surgery in Amravati, But so many people gave very positive feedback about Dr. Sudhir Dhande, So then I decided to personally meet and consult this doctor. To my surprise he is one of the best human Being first and then one of the best Cardiac Surgeon, He spend almost ~1 Hr. with me and my family members clearing all doubts of each and every family member till their complete satisfaction. He is having very good experience in cardiac surgeries and has got complete proficiency in this field from last 4-5 years. We have then decided to perform this surgery at AXON Hospital Amravati, as they have got advanced Modular Operation theatre with all latest equipment’s. A day before operation an Angiography was performed by Dr. Jayade (cardiologist) and it was confirmed that his left and right Artery is having 90% and 70% blockages respectively. My father had already done his angioplasty in year-2015 with 3 stents and with these current blockages the only way forward was to go for his bypass as well along with valve replacement. The things were looking complicated and scary to us, Again Dr. Dhande sir spend enough time with us explaining both Valve replacement and Bypass needs to perform together, If either anyone remain untreated then it won’t help much in improving overall health condition of patient. We then agreed to go for both the surgeries together as most of the surgical procedure remains common in Valve replacement and Bypass. My father was hospitalized at AXON hospital, few blood thinner medicines were stopped and after 2-3 days of complete stability checks, operation was performed. Operation went for almost 6 Hrs and as per expertise of Dr. Dhande he performed it smoothly without any problem. ICU stay was very comfortable, entire hospital staff, nurses, ward boys all were very cooperative and supportive. With God's Grace all went smooth, now my father is recovering well. My sincere thanks to Dr. Sudhir Dhande Sir and his entire team for making complicated things simple. Thanks to Dr. Shahank Chitmulwar who is handling ICU division, Very cool and calm person, He is keeping complete watch on patients health in ICU with proper line of treatment. He ensured complete briefing of patients health condition twice a day to his relatives who are waiting outside the ICU. Dr. Saptesh Shirbhate, physician, ensured regular visit and also explains the patient’s condition and changes in line of treatment/medicines if any. Dr. Mahendra Gudhe, Orthopedic surgeon, supported us very well in this entire journey. Once again my sincere thanks to all Doctors and entire staff of AXON hospital. All the best team AXON..!!! My best wishes for your future endeavors..!!! I would strongly recommend this hospital as they have got all advance facilities with team of expert doctor panel under one roof. (This is my honest feedback and personal experience of 10 days stay at this hospital.)
