The history dates back to the time of Sri Ramkrishna Paramahansa dev, he used to visit this temple and infered that the presiding deity Kalyaneshwar has spiritual connection to that of Kashi Vishwanath. Baba Kalyaneshwar shivalingam is swayambhu hiranyagarbha by nature and often worshipped by the disciples of Sri Ramkrishna and swami Vivekananda.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kalyaneshwar Shiva Temple is located by the side of the Grand Trunk Road in Bally of Howrah district. The Hooghly river flows near the temple. It is also close to Belur Math. History says that the temple is pretty old, more than six hundred years ago. Previously this area was a dense forest. The local king or zamindar got a dream and accordingly for setting up the temple he donated the necessary land. It was said that Dayaram Bose set up a small temple here and engaged the local four Brahmin families as sebayiths and, they are looking after the temple.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a very nice temple at Bally. The place is well maintained having all sorts of facilities for the devotees like clean toilets, availability of drinking water etc. This is a Shiva temple. Ramakrishna Paramhans Deb once pay visit to the place. There is a big pond at the front side of the temple. The place is well visible from the main road.
