Babu temple (dherasar ) of the oldest temple

Dhanvashi Tunk also known as Babu Derasar - This temple was constructed in the year 1891 by Rai Bahadur Babu Dhanpat Singhji Dugar renowned Zamindar of Murshidabad Bengal to fulfill his mother's wish. His mother, Mehtab Kumari visited Shatrunjay in her later years. She found the journey to be arduous. She asked her son to build a temple at the base of the hill so that old and feeble Jains could also undertake the pilgrimage. She decreed that the temple should be built as an exact replica of the main Adinath temple on the summit. The obedient son replicated not only the main idol but also the other main features of the main temple. Today, many elderly Jains visit only this Babu temple and experience the same satisfaction of making the journey to the top.

A Derasar Made especially for aged person who can not do jatra by their own legs due to age restriction, even if they do jatra till Derasar & do all the rituals as required then also their jatra is said to be completed However these does not apply to those who can do jatra till the end i.e, till Moti Tunk The history of the Jinalay goes as following: A seth named "Babu" once came with his parents for jatra, but due to old age their parents were not able to jatra by their own & at that particular times Dholi was not a concept evolved So in order to get the jatra of his parents done he bought a Strong bamboo & made one seat on each of the ends of the bamboo ( same as that of a weighing scale ⚖️) ........ He then made his parents sit on the seat while he himself took the bamboo on his on sholder single handed & started the jatra & reached the uphill of Shree Shetrunjay Later post jatra he realised that not all the members of family will be able to carry their parents on their shoulders to do jatra & the aged people will not be able to jatra in rest of their lives, So inorder to facilitate them he constructed the Jinalay resembling the Moti Tunk ( Main Tunk) of Giriraj whereby the aged people can also take benefits of the jatra just by climbing the hill uptill this Jinalay .........
