★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place, lots of deer gathered in a small area, near the gate.
Little numbers of birds are visible, but there are some colorful birds too.
The negative point is that due to the lack of maintenance, the authority has closed a major part of the sanctuary and left a very little front part of the sanctuary open.
Entry fee is Rs-10 till now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Near sonajhuri forest of Bolpur this place is situated, it's main attraction is deer , the place is nice , number of deer is poor, ticket fare of 50rs.is injustice. If you going there for the first time then you can pay a visit but after that you won't go there once again for sure.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Located near to sonajhuri haat, one of the major attraction of shantiniketan.. entry fee is Rs.50/. Main attraction is plenty of deer visible near main gate... Also one can find some colorful birds in surrounding.. Kinds will enjoy the place.. Also are few watch tower , one can climb to see the surrounding.. so to enjoy the tranquility and calmness this is a place of must visit...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hard to believe that there is such a beautiful and secluded forest just beside Visva Bharati and in the heart of Shantiniketan. However, getting there using the Google Map navigation turned out to be bit of a problem. About 3 times, we ended up taking wrong turns and landing either in a very short alley or a closed road. Asking the local people was not of much help. So, the best is if you take a toto from your hotel. If you want to go by car, take the road beside Visva Bharati and follow it until you see the sign of the Ballavpur Wildlife Sanctuary. It was 2 minutes from the main road. There is no designated car parking but you can park at roadside.
The sanctuary is quite large and we just covered a fraction of it. Intensely beautiful, secluded, and serene. Lots of deer roaming around. There was a nice lake flanked with fallen trees or curved tree branches. If you are out there in a winter afternoon with your friends and families, there are loads of places you can sit and have a great "adda" session. Only request, do not litter the place with plastics and leftovers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today I came here at 12 noon.Visited Shantiniketan from outside because all the gates are closed.We were not allowed inside.If we could not enter it was not possible to enjoy Ballavpur wildlife.In the evening we visited khoai open mkt.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place, though almost always crowded. Contains only Spotted Deer and lots of migratory birds. One can take really nice photos here if they have a decent D-SLR camera.
