★ ★ ★ ★ ★ সাহিত্য সম্রাট বঙ্কিমচন্দ্র চট্টোপাধ্যায় মহানগরী কলকাতার বুকে কলেজস্ট্রিট চত্বরে বিদ্যাসাগর স্কোয়ারের পেছন দিকে ৫ নং প্রতাপ চ্যাটার্জি লেনের ধার ঘেঁসে অবস্থিত দ্বিতল বাড়িটিতে জীবনের শেষ সময় অতিবাহিত করেন। এখানেই তিনি শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন। পরবর্তী কালে এটিকে বঙ্কিমচন্দ্র সংগ্রহশালায় রূপান্তরিত করা হয়। বর্তমানে বাড়িটি ভগ্ন ও জরাজীর্ণ অবস্থায় দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। বাড়ির উঠোনে সাহিত্য সম্রাটের একটি আবক্ষ মূর্তি লৌহশলাকার বেড়া দিয়ে ঘেরা আছে। প্রবেশ দ্বার থেকে বাড়ির দিকে তাকালে বেশ কয়েকটা প্রস্তর ফলক চোখে পড়বে। ঐ ফলকগুলোতে বঙ্কিমচন্দ্র সংগ্রহশালা কাম পাঠাগার সংক্রান্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্যাবলী উল্লিখিত আছে।
 Literary emperor Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay spent the last days of his life in a two-storey house on the edge of Pratap Chatterjee Lane, 5, behind Vidyasagar Square in the heart of College Street, Kolkata. This is where he gave up his last breath. It was later converted into the Bankimchandra Museum. At present the house is in a dilapidated and dilapidated condition. In the courtyard of the house there is a bust of the literary emperor surrounded by an iron fence. If you look at the house from the entrance, you will see several stone slabs. The plaques contain important information about the Bankimchandra Museum.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The great Bengali novelist Bankim Chandra Chatterjee lived at this address for some time but actual dates are not known. The present building which houses a library seems to be comparatively a new structure. The old house might have been developed may be in 1960s. The plaque and the statue doesn’t have much information. The memorial library doesn't seem to have a regular opening and closing hours. What a pity.
