★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst college that I have ever seen in my life.
Gents washroom is generally remain closed. Male candidates who have this college as examination centre need to search for the key of the toilet door, after an hour of searching for the key throughout the college one may get it from either office or from any other male teaching staff.
They don't have enough practical examination materials such as biometrika table books , one has to share it and has to give it back to others within 5minutes , it doesn't matter whether you have noted all the values or not .
One need to wait for their turn so it's literally wasting candidates valuable writing time during examination.
External examiner will waste your writing time by just making you sit ideal in front of him and make you wait until he finishes his talking.
Suppose you were asked to answer something , you can only answer it after he ends his conversation with ignorant person on phone .
Your designated 5 minutes viva would not be ended before 15 minutes because he would keep talking on mobile and thus gradually making you to waste more 10 minutes examination time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Famous but oldest and anti ragging college in South Calcutta. I am really great full to admission this college because teachers and non teaching staff ar so helpful. Many add on course ar help in better future life. Rules and regulations ar so good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Basanti Devi College, named after Basanti Devi, was the first Government sponsored college for women in Kolkata to be founded by the Government of West Bengal in 1959. An eminent freedom fighter, Basanti Devi, wife of Sri Chittaranjan Das, was the first Indian lady to be imprisoned under British Rule for her involvement in the Indian freedom struggle.
Located at the junction of the urban and rural conglomerate, this premier college caters to the needs of girl students from both these areas. A large group of them are also from backward classes, minority communities and from below poverty line. The college offers scope for higher education for women with special needs.
Along with the Calcutta University stipulated academic curriculum, the college also offers scope for the empowerment of girl students by helping them to develop their self-help skills, self-reliance and independence.

Named after the eminent freedom fighter Basanti Devi, the first lady to be imprisoned under British Rule for being involved in the war of Independence of India. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was established in 1959 by the Government of West Bengal. It's a women's undergraduate college. It's a Government sponsored college. It's affiliated by the University of Calcutta. Smt Basanti Devi (23rd March, 1880 - 7th May, 1974) fought for Indian Independence. She was imprisoned many times. She was wife of the National leader and great patriot Deshbandhuu Chittaranjan Das. The girls from lower castes and poor community get opportunity to admission here. The college has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Few past students are Lopamudra Mitra, Singer, Tanushree Chakraborty, Actress etc.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a good college. But I am surprised to see that here is no canteen run on Sunday. As a result, the students who appear here for PCP classes under Nejaji Open University on Sunday, have to face hunger problem. They have to go to foodstalls located outside the college on Rasbehari Avenue, and that is totally unwanted situation.
