Takes 4 hours to reach from Barh, lies a historic monuments that laid foundation to the entire religious faith of Buddhism. Sadly on the way there you see Nalandha, world's earliest university; sadly Bihar current having the lowest literacy rate in whole of India is a state of worry for anyone. Roads were supposedly all National Highways but we're pathetic. Most of them looked abandoned by whoever was constructing it. Had a full day to spend at Bodhgaya exploring the various monuments there. I'd like to recommend Hotel Sujatha for meals and accommodation. It was reasonably priced and served some delicious meals after the tiring day. My special recommendation is Mallai Koftha. EXQUISITE.

The biggest symbol of Buddhist thinking, situated in Bihar. The temple itself is an awe-inspiring structure with. Larger than life statue of Lord Buddha sitting in meditative position. The when city has a historical vibe. A must visit for everyone across all religion s and ethnicity.

The spiritual ambience around this place is very refreshing for the mind. The Mahabodhi Mahabihara Temple, which is popularly known as The Main Temple is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sights and a must-visit place in this area. There are several other monasteries are established around Bodh Gaya, which you can visit by walking from the Main Temple area. The market around the place offers Buddha Murti (Statue of Gautama Buddha), Buddhist symbols, ornaments, etc. but you need to bargain for the correct price.
