Bojjannakonda and Lingalakonda are two Buddhist sites which exist on adjacent hillocks, located at about 45 km from Vishakhapatnam and just a few kilometers from Anekapalle. Of the two hills, the one on the east is called Bojjannakonda and the other on the west is called Lingalakonda. Both the hills contain numerous monolithic stupas, rock-cut caves, chaityas and monasteries forming one of the most remarkable Buddhist establishments in Andhra Pradesh. In Bojjannakonda, there are rock-cut caves in which there are idols of Buddha and attendants. There are Chaitya Grihas present towards North of the Maha Stupa. The scenic view from the top is marvellous. One can sit and meditate over there. The place is not accessible to wheel-chair. Entry is free. Rest rooms are available.

It's a good place for children to visit. There's a garden to play and it's a small mountain anyone can easily go up. The back view is so good with crop fields.

An Archeological site with Buddha statues. Bojjannakonda and Lingalakonda are two Buddhist rock-cut caves on adjacent hillocks, situated near a village called Sankaram, which is a few kilometres away from Anakapalle, Vishakhapatnam in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The sites are believed to date between 4th and 9th Century A.D, when Buddhism is the majority religion of Sankaram (Sangharam as it was called then). A tourist place with an average footfall of 100 people per day. There is also a temple inside the rock To reach the site, one has to climb up at least 100 steps. The site is surrounded by so many umbrella shaped rocks statue and several brick structures. The view from the top of the hill is a blessing to eyes. A must visit place in Visakhapatnam.

Places like this are the most trickiest for me to rate, as they are regarded differently by different groups. These caves are famous for Buddha sculptures and their historical relevance. While i found this place clean overall, it could have been maintained better (specially when there's paid ticket for visitors). Caves are all open and there was noone to monitor, not even instructions. Provided their historical importance, it was surprising for me the way everyone was touching and assessing the idols and other sculptures. As I said earlier, it's a great place for someone who's more into history and solo visiting, but with family and kids it can be tricky due stairs.
