A very good place to sit and talk with your lover in solitude. You will find a lot of food outside. But it is better to go when the sun goes down. Those who want to do office work can go. Very clean place.

Wonderful place for zeroing your mind, calming down your soul, under the shade of an unknown tree. It is a garden of trees, flowers, lakes and ponds and of course river Hooghly. Magnificent greenary like a new world, away from city pollution. Better to carry an umbrella for saving yourself from the scorching sun, take rest under a tree. Timing is 10 am to 5 pm. Evening hours is more pleasant specially the cool breeze of the Hooghly river. Big ships that we usually unable to see at Kolkata side can be viewed here. No cafeteria inside therefore it's better to carry your snacks and drinking water with you. And please don't throw plastic packets or cold drinks /water bottles here and there. For budget travelers of Kolkata there's a tip. Usually buses from Esplanade comes here via Howrah therefore it takes double time. Better to board a bus from Rabindra Sadan for 2nd Hooghly Setu or Nabanna (নবান্ন). Get down before the Toll Plaza. At the leftside there's a opening in the wall through which you could go to nearby Toto stand or bus stand for going to B Garden. Only 10 minutes journey from here. It's a piece of nature so precious. Please try to preserve it.

Went there recently, very peaceful ambiance. If you really like plants and trees and are genuinely interested in discovering different species , then please follow the maps correctly , coz there's a lot to see. Plastic packages are not allowed inside which is really thoughtful. But plan out vehicle routes properly beforehand as there aren't many transportation available around the closing hour. You can carry your meals or can visit the Avani Riverside Mall which is about 5-7 minutes in distance (in toto) All in all , if you're really a nature enthusiast, go for it ?❤️

The Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, better known as the Botanical Garden, is a sprawling garden spanning a total area of 273 acres that is located in Shibpur, Howrah, near Kolkata. The gardens were established in the year 1787 and were commonly known as the Company Garden in that time. It is presently under the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) of Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. Today, the vibrant garden is considered to be one of the most stunning landscaped gardens in the entire country with undulating land topography and astonishing artificial lakes. It is a pure delight for nature lovers to visit this area and to spend some quiet and peaceful time in the lap of nature at the gardens. The Botanical Garden boasts of being home to 12,000 living perennial plants as well as thousands of dried out plants which have been collected from all across the globe. Thousands of astounding orchids and multicoloured flowers can also be found in the garden. The major attraction of the garden, however, is the vast and widespread Banyan tree, which is popularly known as the Great Banyan Tree. This enormous tree is reputed for forming the second most extensive canopy in the entire world. The Botanical Gardens were originally founded in 1786 by Colonel Kyd, and are the oldest botanical garden that can be found in the whole country. In fact, the tea that now grows in Assam and Darjeeling was first developed in these gardens.

It's a nice experience. The sprawling garden offers various locations for picnic, playing and photo sessions. Garden is moderately maintained. The only problem we faced is washroom worry. Toilets are very filthy and poorly maintained. It needs improvement.

A calm and beautiful place where you can spend some time in the lap of the nature. It also has the famous great banyan tree. Entry ticket is only 10 rupees. But still it's a very well maintained garden.

Who doesn't like greenery! Soothing for the eyes...the place is huge and I don't think one can cover the whole area in a day.. because then you have to walk a lot! As there are no mediums of transport inside the area, one needs to be solely dependent on walking and that could be really tiring .. Not recommending to visit in Summer.. The main attraction for me here is the Great Banayan Tree, which holds the Guinness Book of World Record for being the largest of it's own kind. This place is really beautiful but lacks tourist attractions .. if they could implement/add some tourist attractions like boating, cycling etc ..then this place would definitely become more attractive to the visitors. Pictures are uploaded for better understanding.
