Lake in Bengaluru
Madiwala lake is one of the biggest lakes in Bangalore, India spread over an area of 114.3 hectare. Legend has it that the lake was built by the Cholas in a day. The water in the lake was fit for drinking till the early 1990s. Since then it has become unfit for drinking due to industrial waste and sewage entering the waterbody. It has gradually become polluted.
It is situated in the BTM Layout at 12° 54' 28" North, 77° 37' 0" East in Bangalore city. It is a home to many migratory birds. The lake comes under the administration of Karnataka State Forest Department which carries out the routine maintenance of this lake. There is a children's park as well. The lake received a Rs 25 Crore grant in 2016 from the Lake Development Authority of Bangalore.

Bird in Madiwala Lake
The Madiwala lake sees a huge number of Spot-billed Pelican migration in the winter (November–December). These Spot-billed Pelicans live in groups. Their main food is fish. Pelicans take small flight across the lake for fishing. These migratory birds can also be sighted in Sri Lanka. They provide a great sight while landing. Typically their wing spans for about 8.5 feet. Egrets can also be sighted along with these birds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Blissful place. Lake is really beautiful and surprisingly huge.
Plenty of place for your morning walks and jogs. Along with benches placed along the side walks for people to use for resting meditating and just chilling.
Dogs are not allowed and you cannot cycle here.
Boating is also available here but I believe its post 9am.
The walk around this lake from start to finish might be close to 2.5kms. Although certain section of the walk is not maintained properly and is just rough surface.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A calm, serene place amidst the hustle-bustle. My go to place when I'm happy, sad, for some inspiration, etc.
Mornings are the best to enjoy this place since evenings are crowded.
It is the best place in the vicinity for morning walks, yoga; also to play badminton, to read, to feed fish and pigeons, photo shoots, jam sessions, or simply sit on one of the benches and enjoy the fresh breeze.
There's is a separate play area for kids but it is open only in the evenings.
There used to be boating in the evenings but that was BC (Before Corona).
The area is usually well kept and maintained.
BTM is at its best during monsoon and winter with lush greenery and water level to the brim.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is place where you can connect with nature as this place is surrounded by the btm lake and has lil dense or mini forest you might say.No visiting charges at all. For boating one has to pay fifty rupees per half an hour. Even there is a children's play area.This is really amazing place to spend in leisure.

You saw a lot bird in the morning.
In this having space for kids activity, have fun with childs.
In morning time sun rise is very beautiful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s a beautiful place to walk around, meditate, reflect on your thoughts. I do wish the timings were better! Sometimes I would love to go here during midnight to sit with the gentle night and be with the moon and the lake.
