This fort was an important fort in Kolhapur district as a watch over for the Varandha Ghattrade routes from Bhor to coastal ports. The fort is surrounded by forest and hill slopes.The fort is close to the Krishna river valley. The fort was captured By Shivaji Maharaj from Chandrarao More on 15 January 1656 along with Kangori and Rayari. After the death of Sambhaji maharaj this fort was captured by Itkadar Khan Aka Zulfikar khan who was a commander of Aurangzeb.The trek route starts from Village Dhavale. The path passes through the small Shelarwadi hamlet.There are about 14 rock-cut water tanks and few dilapidated building structures on the fort.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The trek starts from Dhawale village near Poladpur. On the way, visit the Samadhi of Subhedar Tanaji Malusare in Umrath village. After walking for 2 to 3 hours, we reach Chandragad. The height of the fort is very high, and the ascent is very steep. There is a Lord Shiva (Dhavaleshwar) on the fort.remains of castles and water reservoirs can be seen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chandragad to Aurther seat trekk was very high endurance trekk. Chandragad base village Dhavale. Dhavale to chandragad distance is approximately 2.30 hours. Difficulty Normal. From chandragad to Aurther seat trek route is very risky and distance is too much. Only incline climbing and scary sleepery traverse. Only one drinkable water source at Bahiri chi Ghumati. Need more stamina to complete trek till Aurther seat. Take local guide, 3 to 4 ltr water and enough food to complete trekk.
