On a small hilltop. 10 minutes walk from Dhuadhar falls. An old gorgeous place which kept the historical ambiance alive.

This is one of the oldest and ancient temples to stand on the Indian subcontinent. Lesser known facts exist about the origin and reckoning of this site. As per local guardian of this temple, it was constructed around 8th century by the baahan dynasty. There are ~81 statues all sculpted and placed along the Boundary circumscribing the temple. Initially the temple didn't have a roof. It was constructed later in around 11th century as an enhancement by the , probably by queen Akhara Devi in 1155 AD. To reach the temple one must climb nearly 100 stairs. There are 2 main entrance to get inside the temple out which one has been permanently closed by ASI It has been declared as a monument of national importance by Archeological Survey of India(ASI) under Ancient Monument and Archeological sites and remains act, 1958.

The Chausath Yogini Temple, Bhedaghat, also called the Golaki Math ("circular lodge"), is one of India's Yogini Temple but exceptionally it has shrines for 81 rather than the usual 64 yogini. All the same, scholars include it among the 64-yogini temples. The group of 81 is a mark of royalty, implying that the temple was founded by a king. The large temple is on a hilltop above the river Narmada in Bhedaghat appx 5 KM from Jabalpur, MP

It gave me immense pleasure to visit this temple ! It’s a prime example of ancient Hindu architectural! The temple complex in on top of a hill and the complex is beautifully build! There are Chausath idols of mata rani ! That’s why the name. It’s a must visit! It has been maintained gracefully and the main idol looks so so beautiful

Beautiful architecture with peaceful vibes. You can see the Narmada river from the top and the view is amazing. There are however, quite a few steps that needs to be climbed to reach the temple so that's the only bit difficult part. But it will be worth it so do put your climbing shoes on.
