It also offers both forward and backward linkages for acquiring the silk worms and marketing the cocoon. The six-acre centre is further looking to utilise silk for its hi-tech applications. The research and development is on-going for medical textiles, production of amino-acids, edible proteins, cosmetic additives, and many similar hi-tech areas hitherto commonly unknown. I have known the entrepreneur, Amita Bhatnagar, as an altruistic human who goes out of her way to help those who wish to take a plunge and make a living on sericulture under her enterprise Laar ™. Her dream of making sericulture will come true when silk would find its utility in the benefit of mankind.
