β β β β β Please be careful if these guys come to your doorstep asking for money. They send people from various marketing departments who claim to be from 'cry' but are actually really evil people hiding under the cloak of benevolence. They will lure and force you to give in by using their marketing tactics on you to pay them several amounts of money ranging from 1200,2400,etc. They emotionally manipulate people by saying "each form means one kid" and use every last ounce of their energy to force you into a trap of their so called charity. The reality of the situation is that these people keep 60% of the money in their pockets and barely 40% actually reaches the kids you want to help. They don't provide any transparency either nor do they even let you speak to the kid you're willing to help out. If you guys do a little bit of research on these guys and check their history then you will realize that this so called organisation has expanded their infrastructure vastly in the past years and it doesn't need someone who knows rocket science to realize or simply understand that where this money must have come from. Please don't fall for these people like I did. I have literally lived through this horrible experience myself. One such person came knocking on my door too, I even wrote him a cheque myself but then as I realized what a stupid mistake I had made I immediately went to the bank and 'stopped' the cheque. Inspite of this, these people are so shameless and hungry for money that they called me up today and were inquiring about the cheque I had given them and when I countered all their questions the person on the phone pretended to not be able to hear me and eventually hung up on me which not only proves their guilt but also confirms each and every word I've said above. Save your money and if you're someone like me who genuinely wants to help the needy then please donate to organisations that provide transparency instead of these scammers who are absolutely horrible human beings with no self respect whatsoever. I curse this organisation and hope it not only vanishes from the face of the Earth someday but also hope that there won't be any more victims that fall prey to their scam.

β β β β β I reached out to Poornima a few months ago for volunteering opportunities and she told me about the orientation. I was traveling to India for a couple months so I wanted to interact with kids and give back. She spoke to me about a project called Katha since I wouldn't be here for more than 2 months and then I could do online projects. I am traveling for a week in December and one more day I am committed which I told I will adjust and get back to her. Monday and Friday are the two days they need volunteers for for this project. I never had any NGO reject a volunteers help for not being there for a week. The way she was communicating, it felt like volunteers can either travel or volunteer but can't do both. Never ever seen an NGO reject someone's help. You can assign as many people as you want since someone can't commit 100 % of the days, but you rejecting someone's help sounds very weird to me atleast. Are you really going to assign her another project like you said when she is here only for 2 months? Mention any requirements you have in your initial email so volunteers can look for NGOs that fit their schedule and requirements. I was so excited and now I am disappointed, have to look for a new NGO, and a child has to wait till I can find someone who will accept my services.
One thing I definitely learnt here without volunteering is don't be too open and honest about your schedule else you won't get opportunities to help. I am sure that could be one of the reasons many volunteers commit and then leave. If God has made an arrangement, accept it and he will work things out for you.

β β β β β A one star rating because they've given my contact details to so many other charitable organizations who call Every. Single. Day. I honestly regret donating. Never again! No donor should ever regret his decision to help. This is harrassment! If this doesn't stop I'm going to lawyer up.
