★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wasted effort is what you may call the cloth market at sanjay place. It is a grim reminder of how administrative apathy and planning oversight may waste an excellent opportunity. Located at sanjay place the central commercial complex of Agra cloth market could have easily been a reply to the crowded bylanes of the old city where most of the textile market is located but as usual the over qualified engineers of the state forgot tonplan properly and created something which is both a logistic nightmare as well as civic mess. To start with there is no provision of parking except a dark stinking underground place. Most of the cars or vehicles would be parked on the road, further there are no restroom, so you will find people relieving themselves on roads. In the few building where there are structures they may call restrooms you will be resisted by the stink if you are trying to reach any floor above the ground level. The cloth market could have been a shopping Paradise due to it's location but small shops, lack of facilities and then poor security and public lighting has not only killed the concept but exposes the government lathargy as well. A cast to point is the street behind sanjay talkies where some people have come together and tried to create a sort of fashion street which is a welcome concept else it needs lot of effort and strong will to improve
