This is the highest ever monthly production achieved by any CSP mill in the world.June 13,2018 In May 2018, Essar Steel's CSP (Compact Strip Production) Casters & Mill in Hazira produced a staggering 315KT of prime products, operating at 108% of its nameplate capacity of 3.5 MTPA. This is the highest ever monthly production achieved by any CSP mill in the world. Since its inception, Essar Steel's CSP mill at Hazira has always been a trendsetter. In FY18, the mill achieved a 110% capacity utilisation, against a nameplate capacity of 2.5 MTPA of its two casters. With the CSP#3 being commissioned in February this year, the CSP Mill earned the unique distinction of being the only CSP Mill in the world with three casters. In fact, the mill started producing at the new capacity of 3.5 MTPA in just one month of commissioning. Essar Steel has commissioned a state-of-the-art Compact Strip Production (CSP) mill having a capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), the company informed in a statement issued on Thursday. The CSP mill is a part of the company's expansion plans of raising the steel production capacity at Hazira from 4.6 MTPA to 10 MTPA at a cost of Rs 13,500 crores. Supplied by SMS Siemag, Germany, the CSP mill is capable of producing high strength steels including Dual Phase steel. The products from the mill have diverse applications in general engineering, line pipes for hydrocarbon industry, welded tubes, electrical steel, automotive industry and LPG. Essar Steel has already commissioned two iron making units – a blast furnace with a capacity of 1.73 MTPA and a DRI unit of 1.74 MTPA, a conarc furnace of 2.5 MTPA and a continuous caster of 1. 45 MTPA Further, the company also recently commissioned India’s first 5-m wide plate mill with a capacity of 1.5 MTPA and a pipe mill with an annual capacity of 0.6 MTPA, the company statement said.
