★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The D.A.V. Institutions are the gift of Arya Samaj, a progressive movement founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati in 1875. Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the great pathmaker of modern India, led a crusade against the superstitious and pernicious practices that prevailed in contemporary India.
Mahatma Hansraj, a close follower of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, with a view to bring about a balanced and harmonious development of the future citizens of this country and to infuse in them ideas of Vedic Culture and high sense of patriotism, founded a school at Lahore in 1886 by the name of DAYANAND ANGLO VEDIC SCHOOL. This established the D.A.V. College Trust & Management Society which later set up a network of such Educational Institutions all over India and abroad.
The D.A.V. movement made constant and rapid progress under the capable guidance and leadership of Principal Bhagwan Das, Shri Suraj Bhan, Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, Dr. G.L.Dutta, Shri Darbarilal, Shri T.R.Tuli and many other great men.
The D.A.V. Movement has since rendered a unique service in not only dispelling ignorance and illiteracy but also producing Patriots, Freedom Fighters, Social Reformers, Intellectuals, Doctors, Engineers of unparalleled merit, integrity and calibre. Presently, it is the largest Non-Government Educational Organisation in the country managing over 700 Educational Institutions
