Sit in your home ? and order an Instagrammable Batate bubble dosa at Dakshin Tadka, Pune.
It was bright Sunday morning when I walked into the Pune-Nasik freeway in Pune and the sunlight streaks in through the multi-colored setting that adorns this bizarre restaurant. This place is new, which is obvious the minute you step in. The colors are eye-soothing. You could switch off all the lights inside, and still have enough natural light to finish your breakfast and snacks.
Melodies of Lataji, Asha Ji, and Badashaah songs wrap the space. The choice of songs is unique — not the regular superhits you expect to hear in restaurants.
As I settle down for a breakfast at Dakshin Tadka, a basked of crisp vadas and fluffy mallige idlis, arrive at the table in no time. It doesn’t say much, but when you are starving and want something to munch on immediately before you decide what to order, it is indeed a welcome start.
To make up for the blandness, I go for the crispy masala ghee-roast paper dosa, poha, chow-chow bath, etc.... and I always make sure to click photos for Instagram — because it's unique shape and texture is sure to draw attention and likes. The texture is smooth, and it isn’t very oily. Try it with the spicy sambar and tangy Mint(Pudina) and coconut chutney.
The Mayonnaise dosa is a must-have — fancily plated yes! but the taste is as deliciously South- Indian combined with French style as it gets. If you get a seat near the live cooking counter, you can witness the birth of hot dosa and cheese dosa, something that will tempt you to order them.
Finally, I just love ? to sip a hot cup of tea, it first moistens my lips and throat and slowly allows it's fragrance to fill my mouth. It fades gently in me and purifies my soul.
The only thing that’s funkier than the food and colors at this restaurant is the décor — which is simple and beautiful.
The captions on the walls are creative as well — one says ‘Dhanya-vada’ and another says ‘Namas-kaaram’.
You might be wondering about reading this, Yes! I am a Bangalorean and Dakshina Tadka- Pune made my stay here a most memorable one. MISS YOU SO MUCH… It’s the real Tadka for the foodies….

I have to say ,I enjoyed every single bite of the crispy dosa here.The price is reasonable and worth it. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about customers experience. They are always efficient, happy and polite. Can't wait to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for South Indian delicacies to eat in Pune.
