★ ★ ★ ★ ★ देवी पुराण में 51 शक्तिपीठों (51 Shaktipeeth) का वर्णन मिलता है. शास्त्रों की मानें तो जहां-जहां देवी सती के अंग के टुकड़े, उनके वस्त्र या आभूषण गिरे, वहां-वहां शक्तिपीठ का उदय हुआ. इस तरह देशभर में माता के 51 शक्तिपीठ माने जाते हैं. ऐसी मान्यता है कि जब विष्णु भगवान (Lord Vishnu) ने अपने चक्र से मां सती के शरीर के टुकड़े किए थे तो उनके दाएं पैर की कुछ उंगलियां इसी जगह पर गिरी थीं. काली मां (Goddess Kali) के भक्तों के लिए यह दुनिया के सबसे बड़े और प्रसिद्ध मंदिरों में से एक है.
 The description of 51 Shaktipeeths is found in Devi Purana. According to the scriptures, wherever the pieces of Goddess Sati's body parts, her clothes or ornaments fell, Shaktipeeth emerged there. In this way, 51 Shaktipeeths of Mata are considered across the country. It is believed that when Lord Vishnu had cut the body of Mother Sati with his chakra, some fingers of her right foot fell at this place. This is one of the largest and famous temples in the world for the devotees of Goddess Kali.
