β β β β β The Dalmia Cement, Kadapa unit is located at Chinnakomerla Village of Mylavaram Mandal in the district of Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh. The plant has a single kiln of capacity 4500 TPD, with an annual capacity of 2.25 Million tons. It manufactures ordinary Portland cement and Portland Pozzolona Cement.
The Plant and its colony are located across 450 acres of land and the mines are spread across 1500 acres. The pre-clinkerization was commissioned in December 2008 and the Post-clinkerization was commissioned in March 2009.
Dalmia Cement, Kadapa has adopted the most modern technology for its entire plant and the major equipment, like kiln was taken from FLS of Denmark, Vertical Mills from Pfeiffer of Germany. The company is committed to Total Quality right from the selection of equipments to its installation. Product quality is monitored right from the raw materials by Cross Belt Analyzers, Auto Samplers, Particle Size Analyzer, XRD/XRF etc. eliminating the manual errors coupled with Robo lab. As regards energy conservation, we have the most modern MV Drives, Intelligent MCCs, VFDs, SPRSs. To ensure cement fineness, the particle size analyzer has been installed, which automatically corrects the blain size and controls the process. The entire plant operations runs on auto mode i.e., on expert operation system, eliminating the manual judgmentsβ and errors.
The Company has attached utmost importance to the conservation of environment in and around its surroundings by installing highly efficient electrostatic precipitators and dust collectors. The entire length of belt conveyors and the storage / transfer points are covered with sheds / domes. DCBL has established procedures and methodologies to identify the significant aspects and appropriate mitigating procedures to sustain the environment by administrative and engineering controls.
The unit has also contributed substantially to the generation of employment and to the overall economic development of this backward area. The company has set up a goal to attain TPM as part of improving the equipment availability and cutting down the costs. In order to improve the integrated management performance of the organization, it has set up a good laboratory with all the required facilities. For better co-ordination and control between the departments and for optimizing the cost of manufacturing, it has implemented SAP R/3 ERP Package. This covers modules of PPPI, PM, QM, MM, FI, CO & HR. Internal communication is done mostly by e-mail.
As regards safety of employees, the company firmly believes that safety is not by chance but by choice and accordingly it has taken many measures since project stage and to that extent, it took a credit that No fatal/ major accident has not taken place since its inception. DCBL has established procedures and methodologies to identify the hazards and associated risks and mitigate the same by administrative and engineering controls. DCBL has established procedures to mitigate incidents and formats to record for evaluation and improvement of the systems. In a similar way it has established procedures to identify potential emergencies and handle emergencies in emergency situations.
The plant produces Cement of 43 and 53 grades, Portland Pozzolona Cement (PPC under BIS certification mark scheme for use in civil construction and in the manufacture of RCC pipes, water tanks, flooring tiles and manufacture of concrete sleepers etc. The efforts and innovativeness of individuals and teams are recognized and appreciated through Motivational Schemes like Good Work Award (GWA), Employee Suggestion Scheme (ESS), Safety Awards etc.,As part of Community Development, the Company has engaged a third party called βCareβ for undertaking the CSR Activities and 16 Lacs budget is allotted for the Year 2010-2011. The CSR activities includes Adult Education, Entrepreneurship Development, Agricultural Development, Medical and Health Care Camps.
