★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The massive, glistening black sculpture depicting Gandhi’s iconic Dandi March of 1931 stands proudly in the heart of the city, easily visible on the Sardar Patel Marg, near Willingdon Crescent. This poetic sculpture by veteran artist and sculptor Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury shows ten Indian people following Gandhi on his path-breaking Civil Disobedience protest, hence the name - 'Gyarah Murti'.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lush green area with tight security around the area. One things is confusing that the Army personnel doesn't let you park your cycle at the front of the statue on the pavement. The board there says that one must not enter into the grassy area however on the pavement there is no such information. Morning sightseeing, weather and all the things were good

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Gyarah Murti is an iconic ensemble of 11 statues erected as a tribute to Gandhi’s courageous Dandi March of 1931 against oppressive salt taxes imposed by the British colonialists.
The Gyarah Murti is an iconic ensemble of 11 statues erected as a tribute to Gandhi’s courageous Dandi March of 1931 against oppressive salt taxes imposed by the British colonialists. Created by sculptor Devi Prasad Roy Choudhary, the black monument depicts Gandhi leading the way, followed by 10 people of different religious affiliations from various walks of life including a Hindu scholar, Muslim farmer, Christian priest, Sikh elite, and Dalit laborer. It illustrates how diverse people unified for a common cause to obtain freedom.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best statue in the Lutyens zone and Delhi. A must visit to respect and remember the great sacrifices and actions of our freedom fighters.
The statue depicts the very morals of social integrity , harmony , helping each other and persistence.
Try to visit the statue by 4:45pm so you could see the monument with and without lighting and fountain.
We took cycle from the smart cycle stand next to Udyog Bhavan which seems to be one of the best options to look and feel the Lutyens if you are not on your personal conveyance.
