★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I absolutely loved the place! They keep academic books as well as story books, fiction, science, and every kind of book one can think of. The shop is pretty large also and it totally gives the amazing feeling of being in a Library. And best part is the people over there - the shop owners. They're one the loveliest people I've ever met. Absolutely cooperative and have very sweet behavior. It's one of the best places for book lovers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An excellent book store and in my opinion the best in Kolkata. So helpful and knowledgeable staff to help you out with your queries. On the plus side they accept all credit and debit cards. It was established in 1886 when Kolkata was known as Calcutta and was the capital of India. I think I would rather call it a heritage book shop and definitely deserve iconic status.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are a time traveler and happen to love books, this is heaven for you. It still stands, nearing its 150th year anniversary, I wonder what not has she witnessed. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, and the elderly owner will steal your heart. Very charming and honest. Unbeknown to me, I was looking for a book not knowing whether it exists, I only described the subject and they were quick to show me few from their stock. Needless to say, I was impressed...
