Many big merchants of daily need goods eg Refined oils, pulses, and grams spices, masaala, grocery items, confectionery items, perfumed sticks, variety of soaps, branded and local made, and many more items retail customers can also buy from many shops in this markets. Also this place is famous for Amritsar s local street food . Many venders move shop to shop to sell their eatables ,as shopkeepers and their employees are their major customers to buy eatables. These vendors sell a variety of street foods at very cheap price and that too without compromising the taste style and flavour of local Amritsari food. Some dishes costs as low as 5 to 10 indian rupee for one time meal. This food is popular among the poor labourers as well as the millionaire merchants too. clay oven baked nans (a type of Persian bread) stuffed with potatoes and other vegetables , layered with finally grounded wheat flour and clerified butter, served with boiled chick peas with added spices and tamarind, is one of the favorite dish prepared in some shops, as breakfast and lunch items.
.This is one of the oldest markets of 400 years old Amritsar city.still you can see horse pulled carts to carry the grain bags in this market along with automobile small trucks.sometimes man pulled rickshaws are also used to deliver very short distant small consignments. Sometimes two man pushed three wheels carts are also visible in this market.
