પંચાયતી રાજ
આપણી સામાજીક અને આર્થિક પ્રવૃતિઓમાં ગામોનું હંમેશા મહત્વ રહ્યુ છે. ગ્રામ પૌરાણિક સમયથી એકમ રહ્યુ છે. દેશની મોટાભાગની વસ્તી ગ્રામ વિસ્તારોમાં રહે છે.
પૂ.મહાત્મા ગાંધીજીએ ગામને ગ્રામસ્વરાજ નું એકમ વર્ણવેલ છે. ગ્રામસ્વરાજ એટલે સંપૂર્ણપણે પોતાની વિશાળ ઇચ્છાઓ માટે પડોશીઓથી સ્વતંત્ર પરંતુ પરસ્પર એકબીજા પર આધારિત ગણતંત્ર.
ગુજરાત રાજયમાં પંચાયતી રાજ પ્રથમથી જ વિકેન્દ્રી કરણની દિશામાં એક મહત્વના પગલાં તરીકે અમલમાં આવેલ છે. હાલના પંચાયતી રાજને સુદ્રઢ કરવા માટે તેમજ વિકાસની યાત્રામાં ગ્રામ જનસમુદાય પણ સરકારની સાથોસાથ ખભેખભા મિલાવી વિકાસમાં સીધા ભાગીદાર બને તેવી સ્પષ્ટ નીતિ અને નેમ સાથે ગુજરાતમાં પંચાયતી રાજનું અમલીકરણ થઇ રહેલ છે.
બંધારણના ૭૩ માં સુધારાને આધિન હાલમાં ગુજરાતમાં પંચાયત એકટ અમલમાં આવેલ છે. જેને ગુજરાત પંચાયત અધિનિયમ-૧૯૯૩ કહેવામાં આવે છે. જેના મારફતે રાજયમાં પંચાયતી રાજ વ્યવસ્થાનું સંચાલન અને નિયંત્રણ થાય છે.
ગુજરાત રાજયમાં ત્રિસ્તરીય પંચાયત વ્યવસ્થા અમલમાં છે.

ગુજરાત રાજયમાં ૩૩ જીલ્લા પંચાયતો, ૨૪૯ તાલુકા પંચાયતો અને ૧૪,૦૧૭ ગ્રામ પંચાયતો અસ્તિત્વમાં છે. જયારે ૧૮,૫૮૪ રેવન્યુ વિલેજ છે.

The Panchayat Act is currently in force in Gujarat subject to the 7th amendment to the Constitution. Which is called Gujarat Panchayat Act-13. Through which the Panchayati Raj system is managed and controlled in the state.
