★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's one of the famous ghats of Uttarpara, though relatively less crowded. This well maintained ghat also features small temples for devotees who take bath here, and now has a fast food restaurant for evening visitors. Peaceful place to just sit and gaze at the mighty Ganga, you can see the Bali bridge and the famous Dakshineswar Kali temple from here across the river.
The pics are from Mahalaya, the holy new moon day of autumn, when people offer prayers and water, called Tarpan, for their departed ancestors on Devipaksha, which essentially starts the Durga Puja festivities in Bengal.
