★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My mother's knee replacement has been done at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital Pune by Dr Wakankar.. He has a great team and the hospital service is good as well. There is no false promise. Initially the report said about Covid infection and surgery was deferred for 3 weeks. Due precautionary measures were taken by Hospital to ensure the surgery is successful.
Post surgery, it took exactly 1 month for my mom to take her first step out of house as was mentioned by Doctor. Post 3 months, although pain was there, walking without support was possible. The pain indeed is not bearable with sleepless nights continuously for first 3 months but even doctors cannot help except for prescribing pain killers. I have seen my mom crying due to pain during the physiotherapy sessions or at night but this is a part of the recovery process. A small cut takes week to heal so the bigger surgery time taking is expected. It's mere useless to keep worrying and trying to reach doctors during this time. One should be mentally prepared for hardship for 6 months post surgery.
It needs a lot of patience, support, willingness and a positive environment around for a speedy recovery. In addition to it, physiotherapy by experts for 15 days and then another 2 months on own twice daily is a MUST.
Last but not the least, Thank you Hemant Sir. You are indeed next to God to me.
