An Overlap Syndrome is an autoimmune disease of connective tissue in which a patient presents with symptoms of two or more diseases.
Examples of overlap syndromes include mixed connective tissue disease and scleromyositis. Diagnosis depends from which diseases the patient shows symptoms and has positive antibodies for in their lab serology.
In overlap syndrome, features of the following diseases are found (most common listed):
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus(SLE)
- Systemic sclerosis
- Polymyositis
- Dermatomyositis
- Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)
- Sjögren’s syndrome
- Churg–Strauss syndrome
- Autoimmune thyroiditis
- Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome
The treatment of overlap syndrome is mainly based on the use of corticosteroids and immunosuppressants. Biologic drugs, i.e. anti-TNFα or anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies, have been recently introduced as alternative treatments in refractory cases. There are some concerns with the use of anti-TNF agents in patients with systemic autoimmune diseases due to the risk of triggering disease exacerbations.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was dealing with a severe joint point in my left hip joint. I consulted with many doctors including doctors in sgpgi but after going here and there i was referred to dr. Ved chaturvedi and after consulting with him i was finally relieved with that pain this is because he is such a great doctor with very high qualifications like DM that's why my experience is very good with him. My advice to people that if they are dealing with such kind of pain then you should always refer to DM qualified rumathologicts because there are many self made rumathologicts which are not qualified well enough.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came with acute pain of RA to Dr VEd Chaturvedi. I was of the opinion that it will never go but to my surprise pain subsided within 2 weeks medicine. Not only the medicine but the behaviour of Sir is so nice that it makes you feel relieved. Just talking to the doctor makes me feel 50 percent better. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dr. Ved Chaturvedi is one of the best doctors in his field, not only that, but He is one of the most caring compassionate doctors I have met. he possesses gentle manners and kindness in dealing with parients, I cannot express my sincere gratitude to him, I came with a patient from Yemen, she had been suffering for three years from a rare disease and the doctors there could not diagnose her problem, and the patient’s condition was hopeless, but by the grace of God and then the doctor, the correct diagnosis was made which was dermatomyositis disease, then the medicine was given. within one week she felt the improvement, The patient and her family have no words to express thier feelings towards him and his team. They were very kind and cooperative, and the doctor is patient and listens well to his patients and answers thier queries. Based on my personal experience, I would highly recommend other patients to Dr. Ved Chaturvedi.

There are many non qualified, self styled, inadequately trained doctors who also practice as rheumatologist. My father is suffering from arthritis of both kness and I am very satisfied with his human approach I would always advise other people to go to DM Qualified rheumatologist for best results.
Dr Ved Chaturvedi has served in Indian Army as rheumatologist for 35 years, and was award by the President of India. He would never advise anybody for any particular lab or chemist, or any other Diagnostic centre, he does not practise anywhere except in Sir Gangaram hospital.
