My review is not about Dr. Parikh’s expertise as a doctor – from all I’ve read and heard, he is a highly capable medical professional who is respected by his peers – but about his treatment of his patients. My dad was being treated by Dr. Parikh at his Vile Parle clinic since July this year. The diagnosis was on point as were the medications Dr. Parikh prescribed. What completely missed the mark is Dr. Parikh’s complete inability to treat my parents as human beings. From the start, his general attitude has been arrogant and his tone has been rude – from what I understand, my parents were were yelled at for asking questions and given directives that made little sense to them (for example, a complete re-run of tests from a particular lab only). Some more context – I live in the US and am ridden with worry when medical ailments befall my parents. After their first visit with Dr. Parikh, my mom called me in tears telling me how they were “yelled at” for asking questions related to my dad’s diagnosis (Dr. Parikh was the second or third doctor they visited) saying that “he is the best doctor” and that “all good doctors treat their patients badly.” I honestly fail to understand why doctors should treat their patients badly -isn’t being able to practice medicine a privilege? Against my advice, my parents continued to go to Dr. Parikh, but would tell me often about how they had to constantly walk on eggshells around him (frankly, the way they talked about him reminded me of victims of abuse). Fast forward to today – they were at the clinic after having cancelled last week’s appointment because my dad was in the hospital getting treated for gastroenteritis. My mom usually does not accompany my dad to the clinic (because of COVID concerns) but did go with him today because he just got discharged from the hospital. She was yelled at and asked to “get out of the clinic.” When she finally asked him why he has to be so rude, he returned the money for today’s consultation and refused to continue my dad’s treatment. Hopefully, this is the end of their ordeal, but I’m just sad that somebody, a person with great knowledge who is supposedly at the top of his field, treated my parents this way. In India, we treat doctors like God, but the best doctors I know, treat their patients with respect reminiscent of God. I am hopeful that this man, who is decades older than me, will develop some compassion, humility, and other qualities that are more fitting for his profession. His patients deserve that. Until then, I’ll keep wondering how he sleeps at night.

The worst kind of experience. He has no manners on how to talk to patients. He also scared my kid with his rude behaviour. I don’t know who labels such doctors as best. Not a spec of humanity. Prescribed such strong steroids on a kid’s skin. If we would have gone by his prescription my kid’s skin would have been destroyed. We just paid his fees and ran away from there. Only interested in earning money.
