Dr. Batra received his MBBS and MD (Medicine) degrees from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur and then went on to obtain his super speciality degree of DM (Gastroenterology) from the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. His past work experience includes director gastroenterology at BLK Super Speciality Hospital, Senior consultant gastroenterology at Batra Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Holy Family Hospital and Pool officer and senior research officer at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, all located in New Delhi. His primary area of work is Liver disease, Endoscopy, Inflammatory bowel disease, Pancreatic disease and GI malignancies. He is adept in performing most GI procedures like upper and lower GI endoscopies, diagnostic as well as therapeutic ERCP (both biliary and pancreatic), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and EUS guided procedures like EUS FNA and EUS guided biliary drainage, Upper and Lower GI manometery and motility studies.
An avid researcher and renowned academician, , Dr. Batra’s most significant research contribution has been an epidemiological study on the prevalence of HAV antibodies in school children and patients of chronic liver disease in the city of Delhi. He has participated in numerous national and international endoscopy workshops and demonstrations. As a guest speaker he has participated and delivered talks in multiple national and international conferences including those organized by IMA, API and ASI held in different parts of the country. He has a large number of academic publications in global as well as national journals. He has participated in many health based television interviews aired on various national and private television channels.
He has not only been instrumental in setting up the Batra Gastrosciences and Liver center at Batra Hospital but also been responsible for initiating academic activities like DNB programme at Batra Hospital and BLK hospital.
