★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First of all, all these places in gopalpura claiming to be a PG that hands out business cards are freaking hostels. Then they try their best to convince you about their logic and prove how your 16 years worth of knowledge of English is somehow wrong and multi-storied buildings with cells with two beds each and a matron to look after a register like a hawk is really a paying guest accommodation. Can I take a break to laugh out loud?
Coming to my experience here, we honestly didn't know how things work, so went on to look at this hostel which calls itself a PG, it actually looked better in comparison to the other hostels we had seen. So I took a room. It looked fine. But from the next day, surprise: the structure is probably hollow, you can hear everything going on in the other room. Surprise: the cooks can't cook. Surprise: the RO spews tapwater. Surprise: you have to pay extra for every service even though you're already paying 12k per month. Surprise: the seemingly nice , smiling matron turns into a poisonous fang.
I asked my father to find another accomodation, and he fortunately found a PG in like, a real PG. We hadn't paid the money in advance, which wouldn't have been refunded if we did, so our dear Mrs Fang started dissing my upbringing spewing all kinds of village curses on me infront of everyone while my dad was away negotiating with the owner. Me, a person who cried when her mom scolded her, found out that day how strong she actually was, by showing Mrs Fang that her raging anger doesn't intimidates me. I openly revealed infront of other customers every lie she was telling them and how I had met other girls who had left the hostel before for the exacts reasons as mine.
Meanwhile the owner wasn't Letting my dad go without paying full rent for 2 months, so dad told him he was friends with a senior officer on the police force. Mr owner just remembered he wasn't paying his taxes by calling his hostels a PG, and promptly let my father go after taking rent for 15 days.
A lot of private houses in the area offer PG service, choose any of them, don't fall for these businessmen with business cards.
