★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I Wonder If it works hassle free for people who actually need this help. on 10th May 2019, I visited a temple in the evening and happened to see the pujari of the temple and 'apparently' claiming to be her son were manhandling a lady as she was sleeping outside the temple. I stopped them and googled for senior's helpline in bangalore.... Got the no. and dialed around 6 pm, which was answered. Inspite of the website mentioning that its a 24hrs helpline, I was told that it will be difficult for them to take do anything as the office was now closing. The gentleman who picked the phone seemed to be an experienced person who I am sure has gone thru various difficult cases told that we cannot do anything today. He informed that taking on a senior is not an easy process, we have to Inform the police and finish few formalities before the senior can be taken in. I was shocked for 2 reasons -
1. It did not seems to be a 24 hrs helpline
2. Apparently it is long process.
I am sure there are difficult cases, there might be people using the system for their benefit but we cannot make the system so cumbersome that people who actually deserve it don't get help on time.
The system is probably made for people who cannot help themselves, but unfortunately this time around it did not work.
It would be great if the website provides the process that is followed to take up an elder into their safety with contact numbers that people like us are aware and help these helplines to make the execution successful
