★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty much lives upto the hype. The service was comparitively quick even when the restaurant was getting crowded with time. We went at around 12 when it was relatively empty but within an hour most of the tables got occupied. The food was really yummy and the quanitity was good enough for 3 people. All the dishes we ordered were 1 plate each, enough for 3 people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When one hears the name China town, the first thing that comes to mind is savoury Chinese at pocket friendly prices. That thought still holds true in 2022. Post pandemic when every restro is trying to re-start their business china town is also doing the same. Our recent visist to Golden joy brought to light that china town outlets have not compromised on quality and quantity.
Golden joy is one of the renowned restros of China town. It has 2 different seating sections one for friends or only guys group on the ground floor and the other is the family section on the 1st floor.
Two of us took a table on the ground floor. We a had bottle of beer each along with 2 starters.
Dry chili pork: this was suggested by our waiter and it was damn good. We ordered half plate of it and the quantity was enough for 3. Soft succulent shredded pork tossed with sweet and sour chili sauce along with onions and capsicum. There was no coating nothing just amazing soft juicy pork.
Thread chicken: 7 large pieces in half a plate. Soft chicken strips wrapped in noodles and deep fried. Another amazing dish.
Pork meinfoon: the taste was amazing and you customise what you wanted to add to the dish. We added pork and eggs. The quantity was too much for 2 people
Wooly pork: another great suggestion by our waiter. Really spicey and wonderfully complemented the meinfoon.
For 4 plates of food the bill was 1030. And I honestly believe that each half plate of their every item is enough for 3 people

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Few days back we visited Golden Joy Restaurant which is located in Tangra which is known as China Town.
The ambience was good. Comfortable seating arrangements. They have variety of dishes and the quality and quantity was really good compared to its price. They serve alcohol also. But we had to wait around 20-30mins after ordering the food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Golden joy has always been one of my most favourite restaurant in the china town area. This place serves best quality Chinese at a reasonable price comparing to the rest.
Although, when they remain crowded their food quality differs a lot than the usual days.
Quality taste differs from day to day.
But I must say their starters are a lot better than their main course dishes. Main course needs a bit of improvement I felt.
But the starters are too good.
Service was a bit slow due to a lot of crowd.
Staffs are courteous.
Some of the highly recommended food are drums of heaven, mixed thai soup, prawn chips, mixed rice, mixed noodles, dry chili chicken, golden fried prawn and etc.
A much recommended place indeed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went for the first time last week and was waiting to taste the famous golden fried shrimp ? and it was DELICIOUS ?? big chunky thick pieces of shrimp coated with the perfectly spiced and crunchy outside. It was ??. The noodles were good too. Huge quantity in one plate, would easily be sufficient for 2 average eaters.
Just the alcohol price was too much ? Old monk was four times the market price... Maybe it was puja time that's why ??♂️

Even though they serve alcohol, it's quite family friendly atmosphere. Overall, I would say this is better than Big Boss or Beijing in terms of food quality any day. When I visited, it was a busy Sunday afternoon so the waiting time was a bit longer than I would have liked. But otherwise 10 on 10 experience. Definitely try their golden fried prawns. It's heavenly.
