★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the nicest place, which is nearly 25km from Guntkal, andrapradesh.
The fort it's built in such a way that it occupies almost 1km radius. And built like chaina giant wall.
Best place to trek. No entry fee. Closing time is 6pm.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gooty fort near Anantapur is one of the biggest forts in the Andhra pradesh and said to be bigger than the Golconda fort in Hyderabad.
It is a magnificent fort reminded of it's glorious past but unfortunately lying in ruins.
It takes about 2 hours to reach the pinnacle of the fort, if one treks by enjoying the beautiful scenery in and around the fort and down the hills on which the fort is located.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gooty fort is one of the best forts in Andhra Pradesh, architecture wise and very complicated too...but not popular as it should be ...trekking itself is hard. It is constructed on one hill and surrounded by 4 hills...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hill Fort is having lots from fortification, bastions and many monuments. Fort known to be constructed in or early Chalukya Period. Then later came under the control of the Vijayanagara Empire. During the reign of Venkata II the Vijayanagara lost the fort to the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The Mughals appear to have controlled the fort after their conquest of the Qutb Shahi capital Golconda. Around 1746 CE, the Maratha general Murari Rao captured the fort, and made it his permanent residence eight years later. He repaired the fort, and commissioned the stucco ornamentation of the small gateways. In 1775 CE, the Mysore ruler Hyder Ali attacked and besieged the fort. After two months, Murari Rao was forced to surrender, as he ran out of water supplies. The fort later came under the control of the East India Company.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The fort is just amazing and will take your breath away. A definite place to visit if you love forts.
The google maps pin is incorrect. Once you cross the gooty bus stand and take a right and enter the fort walls, better ask the locals for the fort and they will direct you. Its a straight road to the very end but better ask than get lost.
Once you arrive at the fort entrance, you will be asked to make an entry in a register. Though the fort timings are listed as starting from 9AM there were folks who had logged an entry at 6am. When asked about it, was told we could come in early too. There is a APSTDC booth/stall near the path starting the fort trek but its not been opened yet.
As for the trek, its amazing. Its about 3.5 to 4km one way and expect to spend atleast 3-4 hours on the trip. And if you want to take time to explore every nook and corner, it can take upto 5 hours. It is very hot, even during this time of the month so carry atleast 2L of water per person. You can trek upto the very top where there is a small tower from where the view all around is just amazing. Definitely worth the trip, you wont be disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fort if maintained with food , water and park facilities would be better.. for adventure and scenic lovers the fort would give awe experience. The view points can be reconstructed which makes this fort better than Golkonda for its beautiful aerial views

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a really good experience, the view is really nice and it's worth climbing the hill. My suggestion to those who wish to reach the hill top is, wear shoes with good grip.. the path a bit slippery and steep.
