Very big and beautiful dam. It is located 50 km from Bhandara district. Best time to visit this place is in rainy season or else you will not see the true beauty in other seasons.

It is one of the biggest reservoir in vidarbha region. It is constructed on Wainganga river and contains 33 number of gates which spans length more than 1km. It is nice place to visit with friends and family although you can't get on the dam unless your visit is official or for academic purpose. Avoid visiting on monsoon season.

Gose Khurd Dam, is an earthfill dam on the Wainganga River near Pauni in Bhandara district of Maharashtra State.... The dam consists of 33 Nos. of spillway gates to regulate irrigation water into the river throughout the year... It is also known as 'Indirasagar Dam' was established with an aim of offering irrigation facilities to the villages of Nagpur, Bhandara and Chandrapur districts. The foundation of the dam was laid by Smt. Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India on 23rd October 1984. The site features 92 m high and 653 m long concrete gravity dam, which was formed after rehabilitating around 249 villages that were affected by the submergence of Gosekhurd. The project is being executed by the Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) under the water resources department.

You will be amazed with what you will see. It was a project with lots of hope and good for the community. Anything with a purpose or a reason will always create miracle. To know the history and the reason for the dam to be constructed is something anyone can google and even wiki will tell the story. But the essense is something you will only be able to live if you a present there. It's so huge that even a group of friends may seem small. Talking about the details it almost has around 30-35 gates approx, i actually could not count ;-) You might also be not able to keep up with the count and loose it at some point. "It's almost half to a km long I guess." The way it justifies the beauty of Wainganga river and is able to deliver is commendable. At times we humans also create something that is close to nature without disturbing much of its beauty, is a step towards further good. My expectations we not much as what more could I see. I any which was going to see a dam. But little to my knowledge I was "DAMmedd". Happy was i to say yes to this visit and was mesmerized with what it had to offer. Little to say we went on a sunny day, probably that was the only mistake we made as you will get tired with all the walk and the expose you have to sun without any shades. If you for some reason are planning a visit to the place in summer or a sunny day carry water along. It will of much need. The best time that I'll suggest to go is during a rainy day. You will love the view and will get some amazing still to share. Make sure you are okay to be wet in the rain then. It's always a give and take relation with nature ;-) I also made few friends who also showed us around the village. Loved there spirit and enthusiasm. Kids will go miles. Bless them Overall i loved and will go whenever I get a chance.
