famous as Gosha hospital, is the first woman and child care hospital in the city. It has been serving people of the city since more than a century, but very few youngsters are aware of its historic importance. β€œGosha means seclusion. In olden days, women were kept in seclusion or away from people as per then tradition and culture. Hence, people were reluctant to go for institutional delivery, which was leading to more maternal and infant mortality. β€œConcerned over the high mortality rate, King Godey Naraian Gajapati Row bought land along with a building in 1894 to run a hospital from here. He is also said to be maintaining the hospital in the initial years. Eminent lady doctor Hilda Lazarus also served in the hospital, β€œAs per the rule, the King had sought permission from Queen Victoria to name the hospital after her. In 1949, the Government of Madras took over its administration. Now, the hospital has three units with 150 beds and has recently been renovated with new blocks. β€œThe hospital is really a blessing for Visakhapat-nam people and also has historical significance.

Positive points :medical Services are good for pregnant women. Negative points : Some pregnant women are admitted for long periods delay in there treatment and discharge of patient is too late. Needful patient sometimes given sharing beds. This to be rectified. Very annoying is.. there are no toilets for visitors or relatives. Especially for gents no toilets. Swach bharat where? No proper dustbins. Greenary is sparse.

Starting with the entry gate road,it's the worst it needs urgent repair as it is very old. No sanitation at all No bathrooms for visitors Not a single fan in Waiting hall Very small waiting hall as compared to the patients coming on a every single day And staff behaviour is very rude And why the hell we need to throw 10rs to the government employed beggars at the time of new op. Negligence every where. Dear government please concentrate on the above-mentioned problems instead of your leaders publicity which everyone can see on the back side of thalli bidda express vehicles.
