​​A university gold medalist in Psychology, Simar Onkar, is the Director & Chief Applied Psychologist at Great LIFE ~ Applied Psychology Services. 

Simar has 28 years of professional work experience in marketing, writing, editing, photography, counselling,  guidance, psychotherapy, teaching, and training. 

Some of the high-profile companies and organizations that he has worked for/with include: The Indian Express; Christian Medical College & Hospital; Spice Telecom; J. Walter Thompson; and Encyclopædia Britannica. 

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta, and the University of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, respectively. He later taught psychology and trained in behavioural medicine, counselling, and psychotherapy at the Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana. 

While still a student of the Master's degree program at the University of Jodhpur he was awarded a special citation by the Department of Psychology for research, design, and fabrication of an electronic apparatus used in the study of the effect of various types of conflict situations on decision making processes in human participants.

​Simar has acted in two films, including Pamela Rook’s Train to Pakistan, based on the novel of the same name by Khushwant Singh. He has acted in two plays and worked as an Assistant Director of three plays, including the US Embassy & Abhinet's joint-production of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? 

He has written, narrated, and directed 5 educational documentaries for the UGC-INSAT TV Countrywide Classroom Project. And has more than 130 articles to his credit in leading newspapers, magazines, websites, books, and encyclopaedias. 

Simar was the Vice-Chairman of the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi from 2010-2012. He is a life-member of Chandigarh’s oldest, nationally acclaimed amateur theatre group, Abhinet. His views on effective parenting were featured on Chandigarh’s 93.4 MyFM’s show ‘Sixteen Always’.

Simar was featured as a guest speaker by the Amritsar-based cultural centre Majha House
