Excellent place, nicely constructed..even some construction undr progress. When it will finish it will be more beautiful. The church is spacious and there is another top of the hill. One of the prominent religious place of Vijayawada.

It's the one of the famous and religious place for Christians, best possible place to climb the hill top to visit the bigger statue of Jesus.. City view and photography is good.. don't forget to carry water bottles while climbing up

The Gunadala Matha Shrine is also known as The Mary Matha Shrine or more popularly known as the St. Mary’s Church. It is the most popular pilgrimage for the Christians in Andhra Pradesh. This church located in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh is beautiful and perched on the top of a hill. There are lots of tourists visiting this place to seek the blessings of Mother Mary. There is also a huge statue of the Lord crucified on a cross. The unique feature of this church is the huge cross fixed on the peak of the hill to signify the situation of the church. Legend says that Mother Mary was seen here in the year 1858 by the then priest here. She was the one who founded this shrine and since then every year the Matha Festival is celebrated here with huge pomp along with the Mary Matha Fest that goes on for 10 days. At this time of the year the church is visited by lakhs of tourists.

Gundala Matha Shrine popularly known as St Mary’s Church, is located atop a hillock at Gunadala in Vijayawada. An iron cross stands as a rare distinction of this shrine. Many believers even non-Christians throng here during Sundays. A museum inside the church is another attraction, with collection of valuable gifts from devotees and holy relics of ancient period. Every year, for ‘Gunadala Matha Festival’ on Feb 9,10,11 pilgrims arrive from far off places. After getting their heads tonsured and breaking coconuts at the shrine, the devotees line up to the grotto at the shrine to light candles in full religious fervour.
