The temple is just beside a rock and structure tells that it is many century old ,a magical thing which astonished me is a pair of king cobra came and stayed in the temple around the statue whole day ,it was "SHIV ratilri " people were not afraid off those two ,regularly people entered in the temple and completed there worshiping in the presence of priest Astonishing but true ( 2010)

Gupteswar cave temple is one of the famous temples of lord Shiva. It's really a breath taking experience to go inside and explore caves as there will be no lights inside the cave. No food stalls here and nearest town is jeypore so plan accordingly.

Awesome location and spiritual place with the temple inside a cave....and the attractions are the caves which are situated behind the temple...so much interesting to visit.

Gupteswar Cave is a city shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a limestone cave, and its main attraction is the gigantic Shiva Linga which is said to be increasing in size. Pilgrims from all over the country come here during the Sravana period, because the yearly Bol Bam yatra is held at this place. Devotees walk to the Gupteshwar during Bol Bam yatra to bath in the maha kund, and then chant near the Shiva Linga.

Nice holy place for pilgrimage. The road is good except 10-12 kms towards gupteswar while travelling from koraput. Its being widened and reconstructed in the difficult hilly terrain. The alternate routes are a bit longer (15-20kms) but a bit better though narrow.Signages are poorly placed and not very tourist friendly. The temple is very old and local people have a lot of faith .The river swarnaganga flows on the foothill. You have to climb up approx 100 steps and then descend to the sanctum sanctorum through the cave which gives you a unique experience.Though the temple premises is well maintained the outside is poorly maintained and lot of trash has piled up on the close vicinity of the temple.Entry fees to the temple is Rs 5/- per person. There is no separate shoe stand and you have to probably keep them with one of the pooja stalls .
