Sainj (5MW) HEP is run off the river Project situated at Dhera Village of Chaupal Tehsil, Distt. Shimla (H.P.). Project is located on Sainj Khad a tributary of Tons River with Weir located on the upstream of confluence point where the Gawain Khad joins the Sainj River & Power House located 1 Km from Road bridge on Ronhat to Chapal (7 Km after Ronhat).

Construction of the Project was started after getting all the statutory clearances from Competent Authorities. Consent to Establish (CoE) from HPSPCB vide letter dated 24th March 2008. Project was commissioned in May 2010. Project has been granted Consent to Operate vide letter dated 24th May 2011.
