★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ganpati Bappa Morya! The chant sends out merriment across the hearts of many in Maharastra. It is the biggest event in the “Money state of India”. Filled with music, traditions, food and much fanfare Mumbai and the rest of the state would turn into a frenzy. But to truly appreciate the traditions of this magnificent puja you have to move away from the glitz and glamour of the modern day mandals and visit some of the heritage pujas. So, on this pious occasion, we bring you a list of the oldest pujas in Mumbai. Visit them, if not for their traditions but for the history that attached to them.
Jai Maharashtra Society Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal on of the oldest Utsav mandal in Bhandup, eshtablished in the year 1971 and registered legally in the year 1973.
The founder of this Utsav Mandal was Parte Mama, R.D.Sinkar,Mohite uncle, Babu Lal Patel,Sinha Uncle, Padwal Uncle and
my Father Somabhai Tandel,
Gopal Karkera,TribhuvanDubey, Nair uncle, Koshi Uncle, Murli uncle, Suresh Salvi, Jawle uncle, Mohan Lal Soni, Koke uncle,Bhosle uncle ,Mahadev Chavan, Upadhyay uncle, Thakkar uncle, Satam uncle, Gaonkar Uncle, Jadhav uncle, Mota uncle, Sehgal uncle, Pandey Uncle, Battalwar uncle, Patkar uncle Mishra Uncle, Wadkar uncle and many more people who contributed to this Divine Mitra Mandal for years and years.
