★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jami Masjid (Old Jama Mosque) is located in Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi very close to the Ashokan Pillar. It is one of the largest and ancient mosque which is still in use. Architecture of the most is very attractive. Every Thursday, a huge crowd visits here to pay their respect to the djinns—they pray, light candles and diyas, and write letters.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jami Masjid is one of the most ancient and largest surviving mosque and monument, still in use. This historically important Masjid is located in Feroz Shah Kotla Fort complex. Namaj used to take place thrice a day here. One can see people worship here. It pyramidal architect is worth to see and beautiful. It is surrounded by a large courtyard with cloisters and a Prayer Hall. Jama Masjid is connected by a causeway to the pyramidal structure of the Ashokan Pillar. Mosque was visited by Sultan Timur in 1398 AD. This mosque is also known to be the place where, a Mughal Prime Minister, was murdered by his own Emperor Alamgir Sani in 1759 AD. Architecturally it was built on a series of underground cells and made of quartzite stone, covered with lime stone. The mosque is in ruins and need immediate renovation.

Architecturally it was built on a series of underground celand made of quartzite stone, covered with limestone. It is surrounded by a large courtyard with cloisters and a Prayer Hall. The Prayer Hall now in complete ruins, was once used by the Royal Ladies. The masjid and its architecture is an example of Tughluq architecture.
The entrance of Jama Masjid lies on the northern side. It is connected by a causeway to the pyramidal structure of the Ashokan Pillar. This mosque was visited by Sultan Timur in 1398 AD to say his prayers. He was spellbound by its beauty and constructed a mosque in Samarkand in Mawarannahrimitating the design of this Masjid. This mosque is also known to be the place where Imad ul Mulk, a Mughal Prime Minister, got the Emperor Alamgir II murdered in 1759 AD.[7]

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jama Masjid, Feroz Shah Kotla is Oldest mosque built by Feroze Shah Tughlaq, Sultan of Delhi (1351 to 1388 AD) still being in use by the people. Apart from mosque there is baoli (stepwell ) and a garden in the fortress called Feroze Shah Kotla. Amir Timur when he attacked Delhi in 1398 prayed in the mosque. The fortress is situated in one of the old cities of Delhi named Ferozabad non-existent now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This mosque was built by firuz shah tuglaq in ad 1354 is among the few surviving buildings inside the citadel. This was largest of the seven mosques built in delhi during tughlaq's reign. The main entrance to the mosque is to the north on account of the proximity to the river to it's eastern wall. It rests on a series of cells in the ground floor. This mosque was visited by sultan Timup towards the end of 1398 to say his prayers and he was so much impressed by the design of the the building he took some masons and artists along with him to Samarkand where he built another mosque of the same pattern

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Jami Masjid is a large ancient mosque built within the campus of the Feroz Shah Kotla fort, located at Old Delhi, built in the 14th century by then emperor Sultan Feroz Shah. It is one of the longest surviving mosque in the country, and daily prayers still take place here. This mosque oversees the Ashokan pillar and the Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket Ground. To reach here, one must deboard the violet line metro rail at the Delhi Gate metro station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Old Jama Masjid is part of the Firoz Shah Kotla complex, which is a a beautiful historic site. The Ashoka Pillar, which is part of this complex, is one of very few that still remain, which makes the complex unique and one that should be visited. It is a beautiful place for a stroll. Its proximity to other major historical sights makes it an easy destination to visit. There are several security guards around the place, so one does not feel intimidated, but it is still a good idea to keep your wits about. Unlike other historical sights in Delhi, there is only the occasional beggar or two around this complex.
